The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) offers rebates of up to $1,000 for residential and commercial geothermal heat pump property. Funding for the program is provided annually in the form of appropriations from Maryland general fund and is shared with the Solar Energy Grant program. A total of $675,000 has been budgeted for the combined programs during the 2008 fiscal year, which ends in June of that year.

Summary:
Maryland's Solar Energy Grant Program, administered by the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), provides financial incentives to homeowners, businesses, local governments and non-profit organizations that install solar water-heating systems or solar-electric (PV) systems. This program, which took effect in January 2005, replaced the state's expired "Clean Energy Incentives" tax credit for solar-energy equipment. The first three rounds of program funding supported 227 projects.

Maryland - Montgomery County - Clean Energy Rewards Program

Summary:
The Montgomery County Clean Energy Rewards program provides incentives to Montgomery County residents, businesses, non-profits, and congregations for purchasing clean energy through certified suppliers. Residential consumers receive a credit of 1 cent for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of eligible clean energy purchased. Non-residential customers, such as businesses and congregations, will receive 1.5 cent per kWh. The incentives are distributed by suppliers and will appear as a credit on consumer’s monthly bills. The County's Department of Environmental Protection, which administers the program, estimates that this credit should offset 40 percent of the incremental cost of clean energy.
