Alabama - Alabama Power - Heat Pump and Weatherization Financing

Summary:
Alabama Power offers low-interest loans to residential customers to purchase and install new heat pumps and a variety of weatherization measures. The loans require no money down and can be used to finance an air source, geothermal or dual-fuel heat pump. The loans can also be used to cover associated water heating costs and wiring installations. The weatherization measures eligible for loans include insulation, storm doors, double-pane windows and attic ventilation. Sheffield Utilities, through the Tennessee Valley Authority, offers a loan to its customers to help with the purchase of a new energy efficient heat pump. The loan will be financed over a 10 year period with a 9% interest rate. To qualify for the loan, you must have a good credit rating, the heat pump must be a TVA energy right heat pump, and it must be installed by a TVA approved contractor. South Alabama Electric Cooperative is a part owner of Alabama Electric Cooperative which has a generation facility in Andalusia, AL. The Energy Resources Conservation Loan helps members of the cooperative cover the cost of labor and materials for energy conservation measures on existing structures. Loans will only be made to members who have good credit ratings and also own the structures to be weatherized. Alabama - Local Government Energy Loan Program


Applicable Sectors: Schools and Local Government

Summary:
Through a private/public partnership with PowerSouth and the United State Department of Agricultural Rural Development, the Local Government Energy Loan Program offers low interest loans to local governments and schools in rural areas for energy efficiency improvements, which will eventually have a payback through utility savings. An eligible town is one with fewer than 50,000 residents and an eligible county government is one with fewer than 100,000 residents. School systems in rural areas are also encouraged to apply, so long as they are in a city or county that meet these population guidelines. Eligible buildings are those that were built before May 1, 1989 and have a heating system, a cooling system, or both. Learn more...
